Mark Falk has been a United States Magistrate Judge since 2002. Admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1977 and the New York Bar in 1983, Judge Falk was a partner with three top law firms during his 25 years in private practice. He specialized in complex litigation and served as lead trial counsel in numerous high profile trials in the state and federal courts of New Jersey and other jurisdictions.
Judge Falk is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham Law School and Rutgers Law School. He has lectured on a variety of topics at numerous other law schools and Continuing Legal Education Seminars including the New Jersey ICLE, the Federal Judicial Conference, the New York Intellectual Property Association and others.
Judge Falk is a member of the American, New Jersey, and Essex County Bar Associations, and a former Trustee of the Legal Services Foundation and the Essex County Bar Association. He has also served in numerous roles on the New Jersey District Ethics Committee. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Judge Falk is currently the Compliance Judge for the District of New Jersey Arbitration and Mediation Program, and serves on several Court committees including the Rules Committee. Judge Falk is Treasurer of the Federal Magistrate Judge’s Association and served two terms on the Advisory Committee on the Administration of the Magistrate Judge System.
Judge Falk received his B.A. from Antioch College and his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was a published member of the Law Review. He was law clerk to the Hon. John C. Demos, Assignment Judge, NJ Superior Court.
