FMJA Fellow Program
Since 2021, the FMJA is pleased
to partner with Just the Beginning-A Pipeline Program to provide financial
support to selected law students from underrepresented backgrounds who are undertaking
summer internships with Federal Magistrate Judges across the U.S. Currently, the FMJA provides stipends of
$2,500 each to eight externs who are selected as FMJA Fellows. In 2023, the FMJA selected the following
individuals as FMJA fellows: Sharell Reddin of Florida A & M College of
Law, Patrick Gildea of American University College of Law, Elka-asbi Edma of
Howard University School of Law, Alan Huang of Loyola University School of Law,
D’Andre Gordon of Syracuse University College of Law, Abena Ampofo of Temple
University School of Law, Sophia Kim of UC Hastings College of Law, and Daphne
Escobedo of University of Houston Law School.
The FMJA Fellows are also invited to attend the FMJA annual convention
in the summer and participate in virtual programming hosted by the FMJA, such
as sessions on applying for federal clerkships and pathways to the bench.
